Intense ruby red with purple hues. The nose is concentrated and multi-layered, with intense notes of ripe, dark berries. These are complemented by balsamic notes, a pinch of forest floor and warm spices. Dense on the palate, with pithy but finely honed tannins, plums and wild cherries. A distinct structure, powerful, with generous length. Mediterranean spicy-herbal notes in the finish.

Vinification: For this Riserva, only the best harvest batches are pressed, mainly from the oldest vineyards. After temperature-controlled fermentation in stainless steel tanks, the young wine is aged for 24 months, partly in 3 hl tonneaux and partly in 50 hl French oak barrels. Barrel ageing is followed by one year of bottle ageing before the Vallocaia Riserva hits the shelves.
